The best way to get to the apartment from either airport, is by airport taxi.  They are ALWAYS available outside arrivals, they're heavily regulated (no price nonsense), and economical.

Below are the estimated distances / taxi ride times to the apartment from both airports:

DXB - 15 km 15-20 minute taxi

DWC 55km in 45 min taxi

To get around town once in Dubai, Uber is probably the most convenient method, though its tends to be slightly more expensive than Dubai Taxi's (which there's also and app for).

Commuters do use the metro, but its often not and end-to-end transport solution and thus not always a great option.  That said, the vantage point is nice, and it is probably worth riding once during your stay (its also super futuristic and clean : )
